ABOUT US

Instructors: Josey Parker and Heather Snowden

Josey Parker began her study of Latin in third grade at the age of eight, going on to study Latin until her senior year of high school. During middle and high school, she received a Summa Cum Laude five times on the National Latin Exam, a score of 5 on her AP Latin Exam, and the National Latin Exam New Latin Educators Scholarship. Josey has participated in two Latin summer programs, the first taught by Roberto Carfagni in Winterville, North Carolina and the second at the Accademia Vivarium Novum, a two-month spoken Latin program in Rome. She has gone on to study Classics at the University of Cambridge and serves as the President of the Circulus Latinus Cantabrigiensis, a spoken Latin society in which she teaches a class for those new to spoken Latin. 

Heather Snowden​ has studied Latin at Christ Covenant since third grade and continuing throughout middle and high school, culminating with the AP Latin course. She also composed a series of Latin poems for her senior pinnacle project. She achieved five consecutive Summa Cum Laude scores on the National Latin exam, earning the Maureen O’Donnell Oxford Classical Dictionary Award. Heather has participated in a two-week summer Latin program taught by Roberto Carfagni in Winterville, North Carolina, and in a two-month Latin immersion summer program at the Accademia Vivarium Novum in Rome, Italy. She is now finishing her second year at the University of Virginia as an undergraduate studying Classics, where she received the Anne Marye Owen Prize in Latin for outstanding work in first-semester Latin and serves as secretary of the Classics Club.
