Experience Latin in a new way: by speaking it

The goal of the Circulus Latinus Hiemvilliensis (Latin Circle of Winterville) is to provide a new method of learning Latin to students new to Latin, those who wish to consolidate knowledge from previous study, or those who merely want to experience spoken Latin for the first time. Latin education has a long tradition of being taught out of grammar books and vocabulary lists. With this week-long camp, we hope to provide a taste of what it felt like for the ancients to speak Latin, the language that has influenced so many and is still used today.

This camp is accessible to everyone from complete beginners to experienced students, from middle schoolers to adults. Everyone from rising 6th graders up are welcome to come gain some practice in Latin as well as basic grammar and vocabulary knowledge.

This camp will take place from August 5-10 (Monday through Saturday) from 10 am to 3 pm. Lunch will be provided on Saturday, but we do ask you to bring a lunch Monday through Friday. The total cost for the program is $150. $50 is due upon signing up, and the rest is due the morning of August 5 in the form of cash or a check. It will take place at the Christ Covenant School Upper School in Winterville, NC, but is open to all members of the community. Check out the resources tab for more detailed information about the camp. We hope to see you there!
